A Note from Sam…
When I was told it’s my time to write an article for
First Things, I asked, "Sam, what do you want to
say?" Well, folks, you are an incredible group of
people. Adele and I want to thank you for the wonderful
way you have blessed us since we became part of this
church family at FBC. We have a wonderful pastor and
staff. We receive real pleasure serving with them for
Kingdom causes!
Now, you must know I’m not going to get into
your
argument as to who is the greatest - "Roll Tide!" or
"War Eagle!" You must understand I’m not from here
and–"I was Bulldawg bred, and when I die I’ll be
Bulldawg dead." That’s UGA!!!
Since that’s cleared up, I love and appreciate you no
matter if you like elephants or tigers. That’s all in
fun. But our real commitment is to an eternal kingdom.
As you get to know me you’ll find I have a simple
philosophy for ministry –"Love the Lord, love the
people, and work like I do!" In any ministry the
question has to be asked, "What does the death of Jesus
on the cross have to do with this ministry?" A simple
verse found in 3 John 2 should help us understand why
our FLC should impact so many. It reads like this: "Dear
friend, I pray that you may prosper in every way and
be in good health, just as your soul prospers."
It sounds a great deal like our Heavenly Father is
interested in both–body
and
soul.
Simply stated, God wants us to have
healthy souls
and
healthy bodies.
I’ll leave it to you to determine if this is true for
you. We have this incredible resource at the FLC to care
for both. Come and see!!
To all of you who have never exercised much but would
like to get started
gently,
mark your calendar for Tuesday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m.
A chair exercise class will be available for you. Not
only will you get moving, you will have great fun! There
is no charge for our Senior Adults, so there is no
excuse for not participating. I look forward to seeing
you here.
Oh, by the way, we have a great fellowship Bible
study on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:30 a.m. Come
and get your day started off right. Join us!
I’m going to conclude this ‘epistle’ by telling you
something I really believe. I absolutely believe
love isn’t love until it is given
away.
Be on the lookout for someone to love with the love of
Jesus. Come by and let us share in Jesus’ love with you.
I really do love you! God bless and keep!
Sam
